Directing sound precisely with AHD systems

With AHD (Acoustic Hailing Device) systems, sound is directed either physically or electronically and virtually. Physical alignment is simple: speakers are mechanically aligned to where the sound is needed, often manually or using a pan/tilt system.

In contrast, electronic-virtual sound alignment requires advanced technologies. By manipulating the amplitude and phase of the sound waves in a loudspeaker array, sound waves can be specifically controlled. This precise control enables flexible sound alignment (Beam Forming & Steering) without the need for mechanical movement.

Revolutionary beam-forming technology

Beam-forming technology makes it possible to precisely control the sound angle between 0° and 70°. Similar to a zoom lens in camera technology, you can increase or decrease the sound focus depending on the application requirements. This technology is ideal for various application scenarios: from pinpoint communication with distant targets (5° mode) to sound reinforcement for large crowds (70° mode).

Beam steering for maximum flexibility

Beam steering technology allows you to shift the sound propagation at an angle of up to ±35° in all directions. This functionality allows AHD systems to be used flexibly, even in fixed positions, without having to make mechanical adjustments. This is particularly useful in aviation, where systems installed under helicopters, for example, can be synchronized with on-board cameras without compromising aerodynamics.

Control with VocCom VSSTM software

Control is via the user-friendly VSSTM software from VocCom-Audio. This software allows you to adjust the sound direction and opening angle in real time. The software is available license-free for OEMs and integrators and can be easily integrated into existing systems.
